Challenges Faced

Challenge 1: Old, obsolete and unsupported ERP platform.
Challenge 2: Poor IT security and cybersecurity posture with high risk exposure.
Challenge 3: Difficulty with closing the books in a timely manner to provide reliable financial data to run the business or make decisions.

Solution Provided

The process began with our experts at ne Digital conducting meetings with management, reviewing of the data room and site visits. Consequently, we conducted a detailed IT due diligence exercise. It was determined that the company needed to replace and upgrade its ERP system, firm up its security posture and migrate its datacenter off premise. A preliminary IT budget for one-time IT costs including ERP upgrade, datacenter migration and cybersecurity strengthening was built and potential vendors were interviewed to understand implementation timelines. A comprehensive IT roadmap for the next three years was delivered to the investors which was instrumental in making an informed decision.

Benefits Delivered

  • Private equity sponsors were delivered actionable insights about understanding the depth of IT work that would be required to ensure this asset could be used as a platform for further bolt-on acquisitions. This knowledge allowed them to adjust IT capex expectations.
  • The IT Due Diligence report was critical as the three-year IT roadmap was closely executed by the client in the post-acquisition phase to develop ‘quiet IT’ and a platform for further acquisitions.
  • Cybersecurity became a focus within the organization and the culture of IT security matured significantly. The client invested in upgraded infrastructure such as firewalls and switches, better endpoint protection, and intrusion detection software. And most importantly, they improved IT security processes such as frequent penetration testing, annual user security, and awareness training.
