Challenges Faced

Challenge 1: Content Migration

Their content needed to be carefully migrated onto IBM WCM while establishing a responsive graphical user interface with the premise of a mobile first deployment. And all this while preserving data integrity.

Challenge 2: Workflow Implementation

An organized and systematic approach to content generation was required. This was achieved with the implementation of workflow features of WebSphere Portal.

Challenge 3: Segmentation of Development and Production environments

Additionally, Lao Kao has now a cloud presence with unlimited flexibility running in a state-of-the-art IBM Bluemix data center.

Solution Provided

We at ne Digital, an IBM Advanced Business Partner, established the IBM WebSphere Portal as the basis for Lao Kao’s digital experience platform running in IBM Bluemix IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service). The platform meets their current needs and allows the company to grow from a standalone node to a clustered environment. And all this while enabling their development team to integrate with other solutions such as IBM Integration Bus to interact with their ERP System and IBM Commerce to start their e-commerce strategy. The solution provides a responsive GUI that has established their initial mobile application for customers.

Implementation Strategy

Infrastructure

The solution is simple. A single virtual instance-based implementation of IBM’s Digital Experience stack in a standalone mode is running with IBM WebSphere Application Server and DB2 as their database engine.

Connectivity

The company setup an IPSEC VPN from their on-premise data center, which runs their staging/authoring environment to the SoftLayer datacenter with their rendering environment.
